Sometimes, one employee’s shift needs to be adjusted without changing the shift for everyone else. For example, an employee may need to start later, finish earlier, work in a different area, receive a different hourly rate, or have specific notes added to their shift.
Instead of editing the original shift or creating a new one manually, Ubeya lets you adjust that employee’s shift in one simple flow.
With Adjust employee’s shift, admins can create a new shift specifically for the selected employee and move them to it at the same time.
Where can I access it?
Adjust employee’s shift is available through the existing Change Shift component.
To access it:
Go to the Scheduling module.
Open the relevant event.
Find the employee whose shift you want to adjust.
Click the move icon next to the employee’s shift.
Select Adjust employee’s shift.
Adjust and confirm the employee’s shift
After selecting Adjust employee’s shift, you can update the shift details that should apply only to the selected employee.
For example, you can update the employee’s start or end time if their working hours are different from the original shift.
You can also choose a different area when the employee needs to work in a different location within the event.
If needed, open More details to update additional shift information.
This can include details such as hourly pay rate, uniform, cost center or notes.
These details will apply only to the adjusted shift created for this employee.
The shift date and position stay fixed, so the adjustment remains focused and controlled. This helps ensure the employee is adjusted within the correct scheduling context, while still allowing you to update the shift details that may be different for that employee.
Once the details are updated, click Confirm change. Ubeya will ask you to confirm that you want to update the shift for this employee.
After confirming, Ubeya creates a new adjusted shift and moves the employee to it. The original shift remains unchanged, and any other employees assigned to it are not affected.
Adjust employee’s shift vs. Change shift
Both options help you move an employee, but they are useful in different situations.
Use Change shift when the employee should be moved to another shift that already exists in the schedule. For example, if another shift already has the right time, position, and details, you can simply move the employee there.
Use Adjust employee’s shift when the employee needs a tailored version of their shift without changing the original shift for everyone else. This is helpful when only one employee needs different hours, a different area, a specific hourly rate, uniform, cost center, or notes.
In simple terms:
If the right shift already exists, use Change shift.
If the employee needs a customized version of the shift, use Adjust employee’s shift.
